Tooth Colored Fillings
When a tooth has a cavity, the decay must be removed and replaced with a filling material. Advances in dental materials, have given us the ability to fill in cavities with a tooth-colored material called composite.
Benefits of Composite Over Silver Fillings
When a tooth is filled with composite, the filling is virtually undetectable to the untrained eye, meaning only you and the dentist will ever know you had a cavity. Dr. Speer will use special bonding agents to place the material in your tooth. Once the filling is in place, a special blue light is used to cure the material.
A major benefit of using composite over silver fillings is that less tooth structure is removed during the preparation of the tooth for the filling.
